The Position

Oversees successful restaurant operations for the Match venue, while providing management support on the floor. Attracts, gains and maintains loyalty of new and existing clients.  Builds client network and property reputation though in-person and on-line marketing and through traditional and social media.  Drives the success of our eatery and public house through the promotion of events and products.  Ensures premier customer service and product knowledge to our guests. 

Manages the food service activities of the restaurant operations. Ensures customer service, food and beverage standards and policies and procedures are followed. Leads front of house employees and communicates issues, concerns, and feedback. Coordinates food and beverage initiatives, oversees the financial, human resources and resource needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all aspects of the front of house food and beverage offerings meet and or exceed the casino and regulators standards, policies and procedures.
  • Manages, contributes and applies strategies to improve processes, standards, customer service and team morale.
  • Manages the front of house food and beverage team by leading, training, mentoring, evaluating, and providing recognition of accomplishments and corrective feedback as appropriate
  • Develops and supervises staff to achieve high levels of performance and customer service.
  • Ensures food and beverage initiatives are coordinated with back of house leadership, head office food and beverage initiatives, and casino staff.
  • Liaises with the casino management team to ensure that a high level of effective communication is maintained and participates in casino initiatives.
  • Contributes to the service standards, department budget, undertakes corrective action, ensures scheduling and expenditures are controlled. 
  • Retains a thorough and updated knowledge of company policies and procedures, provincial and local regulations for food and beverage and casino operations. Liaises with government regulators that impact the operation of the department. 
  • Undertakes statistical analysis and prepares reports. Monitors and processes invoices and expenditures and ensures appropriate inventory is maintained.
  • Oversees the human resources issues, performance, safety and recruitment needs of the department. Manages the performance of direct reports including: training, appraising performance, providing positive and corrective feedback, coaching and administering discipline. Holds meetings with staff and their representatives (as applicable) and communicates issues, concerns and feedback to management.

What You’ll Require

  • Minimum 2-3 years senior management experience working in a high-volume full service dining restaurant
  • Post-secondary education in Hospitality or a related field
  • Provincial “Serving it Right” or “ProServe” and “Food Safe” certificates required
  • Extensive restaurant operation and food and beverage knowledge
  • Passion for excellence in customer service and the ability to lead by example
  • Understanding of budgets and food/labour costs
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements
  • Basic understanding of marketing principals
  • Knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures for food and beverage operations
  • Ability to work all shifts and flexible hours
