The AGM is responsible for helping the restaurant meet service, sales, and profit objectives along with supervising and directing associates in daily work activities.Reporting to the General Manager, the AGM must assist with ensuring proper training of employees and employee records, formulating work schedules, and to prepare reporting metrics. In addition to maintaining good customer and public relations within the community, ensuring that guests have a positive and memorable experience each and every time they visit.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Personnel Management:
-Support the General Manager in hiring, disciplinary and termination processes
-Prepare payroll, gratuity distribution, and assist in maintaining accurate employee records
-Train, coach, develop and discipline all front of house employees through ongoing feedback and the establishment of performance expectations
-Assist the General Manager to facilitate and participate in on-going education for team members including creating and implementing training programs
-Oversee and manage all areas of the restaurant and make final decisions on matters of importance to guest services
-Manage staff, providing them with feedback, maintain a high level of employee moral
-Ensure positive guest service in all areas; investigate and respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests
-Recruit, train, motivate Front of House staff; oversee continual training and performance; keep employee records up-to-date and organized
-Create an engaging and energetic environment where all associates work as a highly functioning team

Financial Management
-Be accountable for the business performance of the restaurant
-Participate in regular P&L reviews with the General Manager to analyze financial metrics
-Assist in preparing reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, clearly denoting labour and COGS
-Achieve operational objectives by assisting in the preparation and execution of action plans, as well as implementing productivity, quality and standards of service
-Support the General Manager in executing plans for department sales, profit, and employee development
-Support the execution of marketing initiatives

Operational Execution
-Support the General Manager in managing labour and all costs to budget
-Assist in the execution of menus with the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisine
-Review staffing levels and overall front and back of house schedules to ensure labour forecasts are met
-Assist with completing weekly ordering of supplies
-Manage orders and inventory; maintain records of all purchases
-Coordinate purchases and invoice with the Accounting Department to ensure timely inclusion in mid- and end of month COGS calculation as well as timely payment
-Assist in managing all necessary repair and maintenance issues as required

Skills and Qualifications
-In depth knowledge / expertise of the hospitality / food & beverage service industry
-3+ years’ experience in an upscale restaurant with progressive experiences in management/supervisory roles
-Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business/Hospitality Management/Food and Beverage Management and/or equivalent an asset
-Must possess strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to build relationships and manage staff at all levels
-Ability to motivate and manage staff and work effectively in a management team
-High personal integrity, professionalism and maturity
-Excellent math, reading, writing and communication skills
-Exceptional interpersonal skills
