Estimator/Project Manager(Heavy Civil Underground) (Kingston, On) Full job descriptionOur client is currently recruiting for a full time Estimator/Project Manager for a construction company that specializes in Heavy Civil, underground works.Ultimately, as an Estimator/Project Manager, working in partnership with their existing team and under the general direction of the owners, the successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate project estimation & tendering for a variety of municipal and industrial / commercial / institutional projects, reviewing drawings, understanding design intent, identifying challenges, performing quantity and earthworks take-off’s / digital terrain modelling, and providing a holistic project management approach including subtrade and supplier management, project scheduling, cost analysis and preparing monthly progress quantities for client invoicing.To represent the company in a professional manner, the ideal candidate will possess and build on existing skills of proactivity, attention to detail, organization, communication, negotiation and resolution skills. Noting the specialized nature of their business, while all applicants will be considered, preference will given to those with previous heavy civil / underground experience.Other Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Estimating Related:Recruiting new work by reviewing various industry publications, electronic plans rooms, etc.Reviewing plans & specifications to determine the scope of work and to define projectrequirementsOutlining and proactively communicating project requirements and timelinesSoliciting quotations and tendering contracts from consultants, sub-trades & suppliersPreparing quantity take-offs for all labour, equipment, materials and subcontractors Project Management Related:Finalizing contracts that meet client requirementsCommunicating project progress with clients and addressing any concernsWorking in collaboration with the Field manager and site foreman to ensure project deadlines,quality of workmanship and overall project financial goals are metIssuing purchase orders / subcontracts & preparing construction schedulesRequesting and maintaining utility locates and other permits as requiredCoordinating and communicating with subcontractors and suppliers according to project planQuoting Contemplated Change Notices and Managing Change OrdersManaging Site Instructions, RFI’s and responsesIn time, providing training and mentorship to future junior estimators/project managers Required Experience & Skills:Essential knowledge of commercial & heavy civil constructionExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in all MS Office Applications and AutoCADAbility to read and understand consultants plansStrong work ethic, highly motivated and enjoys a challengeProactivity, initiative and ability to self-direct work with little supervisionWilling and able to learn new skills and concepts quicklyConfident, positive & outgoing personalityAble to maintain a professional demeanour in challenging situationsEnjoys a multi-faceted and dynamic work environmentAble to prioritize and be flexible, while maintaining efficiency Preferred Experience & Skills:Years of experience estimating and/or managing Heavy Civil Underground construction projects of various budget levelsStrong analytical skills and construction detailing practicesAbility to work effectively with clients and all stakeholders for successful project completionComfort and experience working with specialized estimating & project management softwareExperience with digital terrain modelling softwareWorking knowledge of current provincial & municipal design standards, OPSD’s etc. Skills:AutoCADMicrosoft OfficeHigh school diploma or GEDAnalysis skillsCommercial constructionProject management softwareConstructionCommunication skillsNegotiationConstruction estimating Salary:From $85,000.00 per yearBenefits:Dental careExtended health careSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridaySupplemental pay types:Bonus payEducation:Secondary School (preferred)Experience:construction estimating: 5 years (preferred)Drake International would like to thank you for your submission.
