About:


Role 1:


Our client: One of the world's largest engineering consulting firms, is seeking an Engineering and Design Construction Manager (Oil Project). Located in Northern Alberta, Fort Mcmurray.


The Construction Manager will play a key role in the planning, design, and execution of construction activities for the oil project. They will be responsible for overseeing the formation of a construction team, developing design drawings for plants, and packaging engineering work packages. Additionally, the Construction Manager will be tasked with creating narratives outlining how the packages will be built on-site, ensuring clarity and efficiency throughout the construction process.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop design drawings for plants, ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulations.


  • Package engineering work packages, organizing and consolidating construction activities into manageable units.


  • Create narratives detailing the construction methodology and sequence for each work package, emphasizing safety and efficiency.


  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure alignment between design drawings and on-site construction activities.


  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the construction team, resolving any design or construction-related issues as they arise.


  • Liaise with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure project objectives are met.


  • Monitor construction progress, identify potential risks or delays, and implement corrective measures as needed.


  • Ensure compliance with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards throughout the construction phase.


  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of construction activities, including design changes, approvals, and progress reports.


Qualifications:


Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.


Proven experience as a Construction Manager, preferably in the oil and gas industry.


Proficiency in design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar programs.


Strong project management skills, with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.


Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment.


Knowledge of construction methodologies, regulations, and industry best practices.


Familiarity with writing and design principles, with the ability to create clear and comprehensive narratives.


Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.


Role 2:


Our client: One of the world's largest civil engineering and mining companies committed to innovative and sustainable practices. Is seeking Construction Managers who specialize in the following: Civil/earthworks, Mechanical Piping, In-stream habitation, and vegetation. For a $1.2 billion, water treatment program. The initiative aimed at removing selenium and nitrates from mine-impacted water, focusing on improving water quality in the Elk Valley, BC.


The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our aggressive water treatment program, focusing on regulatory compliance and environmental restoration.


Location: Elk Valley/ Sparwood/Elkford area.


The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our aggressive water treatment program, focusing on regulatory compliance and environmental restoration. Has worked on large-scale, complex projects ranging from $100M - 1 B+.


Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Oversight: Oversee diverse teams to ensure streamlined project coordination processes. Manage cost controls, schedules, project planning, contract and procurement package preparation, risk management, and document management.
  • Engineering & Construction Management: Lead the standalone site for the water treatment facility.
  • Drive technology, environmental, safety, and schedule components for mining projects by the end of 2025. Experience in successfully leading construction projects in various industries, including oil sands, alumina refinery, and regulatory compliance.
  • Managing Contracts: Assess construction packages, identify issues, and improve project timelines and budgets. Ensure contractor management and mitigate scope creep for successful project delivery. Previous experience managing 166 packages, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Ensure site safety and quality with a focus on execution, with limited support from engineering and quality teams.
  • Expertise in managing construction projects with a strong focus on environmental standards.


Work Rotation:


Work rotation of 8/6.

Living allowance available if critea is met.


Qualifications and Experience:


Proven success in managing complex engineering projects for a minimum of 20 years.

At least 10 years of experience working on multi-million dollar projects exceeding $50M.

Background in civil engineering and mining.
