Meat Cutter position
The Little Butcher is currently looking for an employee who is passionate about local, healthy, and sustainable food. We are the only butcher shop in the Tri-cities doing nose-to-tail butchery and would like to find people to help us grow! We choose to source from independent, local makers and farmers because we believe in supporting our local business community!
Our team specializes in customer service and has been nominated for many awards in this field. We strive to provide our customers with the best experience, product and services!
Tasks and responsibilities:
• Opening shifts: refreshing and filling our fresh display case with a wide variety of beef, pork, lamb, chicken, and more.
• Daily tasks: breakdowns of whole animals, boning, trimming, portioning, stringing or tying, burger making, sausage making, value adding products, receiving and putting away products, bandsaw work, grinder work, filling specialty custom orders, cooking meat products and more.
• Closing duties: clean up of all heavy equipment, work tables and usual clean up tasks such as dishes, sweeping, mopping and garbage removal.
• All of our employees serve customers and handle cash.
Requirements:
• Heavy lifting of boxes and carcasses up to and over 60lbs.
• Food Safe Certification is an asset.
• Food industry experience of 2 year minimum, with strong knife skills.
• Butcher shop experience is an asset, but will train the right person.
• Availability on weekdays and weekends. We are closed Sundays and statutory holidays.
