Engineering Manager (Belleville, ON)

Summary

Operating under the guidance of the Operations Manager, the Engineering Manager assumes the responsibility of working collaboratively within the Engineering team. This role involves providing leadership and supervision throughout the conceptualization, development, and refinement of design solutions driven by client needs. The Engineering Manager will cultivate a comprehensive understanding of our supply base and internal operations, conducting evaluations on the strengths and weaknesses of manufacturing, business processes, and equipment.

Fostering a culture of innovation and mentorship, the Engineering Manager takes the lead in advancing the department. Throughout this journey, the emphasis is on championing excellence, integrity, and customer-centricity at every phase of the process.


Job Duties

• Collaborate in formulating, refining, and executing the strategic plan, budget, and long-term objectives of the organization's operations.

• Drive transformative change as a change agent, implementing plans to eliminate waste and enhance operational processes.

• Continuously enhance operational efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and streamline processes to ensure the seamless delivery of high-quality services. Present improvement ideas supported by relevant data and metrics.

• Supervise departmental outputs, ensuring alignment with production schedules, safety standards, quality benchmarks, and customer requirements.

• Ensure adherence to company policies and industry standards, particularly in areas of cost control, waste reduction, quality, and safety protocols.

• Engage in departmental planning activities, translating strategic objectives into actionable plans.

• Lead projects by developing comprehensive plans, coordinating technical activities, assessing project feasibility, and managing resources efficiently.

• Oversee project management, ensuring effective milestone planning and timely completion of deliverables.

• Spearhead research and development initiatives, evaluating components, vendors, and materials for suitability, durability, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with evolving customer needs and market trends.

• Formulate and implement policies, standards, and procedures for engineering and technical work within the department, including the creation of flow charts and work instructions.

• Maintain high work standards, efficiency, and a positive work environment through strategic management.

• Monitor and optimize team performance with clear goals, feedback mechanisms, and training initiatives.

• Innovate, design, construct, and test new products, programming, processes, or tools.

• Generate electronic working plans and technical drawings for window and door projects based on preliminary concepts, sketches, calculations, and specification sheets.

• Administer systems such as Vault Professional, CAD, and KeyCreator for efficient workflow.

• Manage the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process.

• Cultivate and sustain relationships with strategic business partners and key stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of quality materials or components for production.

• Adhere rigorously to internal policies and procedures, as well as relevant legislation and regulations..


Job Requirements

• Possession of a University degree, 3-year College Diploma, or equivalent qualification.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in Manufacturing and Engineering.

• Preferably holds a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation.

• Demonstrates excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to foster effective collaboration across teams and departments.

• Proficient in Lean Manufacturing Techniques.

• Familiarity with Vault Professional, preferably in a supervisory capacity.

• Strong analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.

• Exhibits a high level of critical and logical thinking, analyzing, and reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.

• Committed to personal improvement and actively supports continuous improvement within the department and the company.

• Capable of reading and interpreting engineered drawings and specifications.

• Possesses a high degree of mechanical aptitude and competencies.

• Advanced mathematical skills.

• Experience working with CAD (Inventor preferred) and CAM (Inventor Cam preferred) software, along with familiarity with ERP systems.

• Eligible for security clearance, including a clean criminal record check.

Work Conditions

• Operates in a dynamic office setting characterized by frequent interruptions.

• Manages a high level of stress and pressure in the work environment.

• Involves occasional overnight, international travel.

• Works in a hybrid office and production environment.

• Engages in the operation and use of essential tools, machinery, or equipment.

• Performs tasks involving lifting, moving, or manipulating objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Encounters occasional exposure to conditions such as heat, humidity, and dust.


Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000

Expected hire date: As soon as possible.

Position: Full time Salaried position - Expected to work 40 hours in a week ( Monday – Friday) with 2 @10 mins paid break and 1 @30 mins unpaid break
