Job Description
We are on the hunt for a Head Chef to join the team at Starbelly Open Kitchen & Lounge. This flagship restaurant of the local hospital, has an incredible open concept kitchen with a team that prides itself in showmanship and guest engagement while cooking. We are local, and support local, and present a casual fine dining experience from service, to vibe, to the menu.


Oversee day-to-day operations
Control budgets and optimize expenses.
Set policies and procedures
Oversee hiring and training of new prep and line cooks
Develop a team that is driven to continuously be passionate about food, plating, and execution
Monthly budget writing with the General Manager
Evaluate and improve kitchen operations and performance
Drive consistent food cost in line with period budgets
Ensure schedule is reflective of sales forecasts and supports the budgeted labour cost
Prepare regular reports for Culinary Operations Manager
Develop and uphold clear health and safety protocols that are in line with AHS requirements
Optimize scheduling to support execution and growth
Develop a people pipeline that supports the attraction of high level talent
Weekly inventory reporting.
Ensure service standards and execution are aligned with the Starbelly Group standard


Handles stress and pressure well
An understanding of inventory systems and procedures
Strong development and leadership skills
Ability to teach knife skills, butchery, and proper cooking techniques
Natural ability to lead people
Passionate about entrepreneurship, and positive kitchen environments
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Displays resourcefulness, and clear strategy through the decision making process. Likes to think outside the box
