It was a good first serving job with advancements from dining room to lounge to bartending to events. If you hustle and appease management, you'll be fine. If you decline moving up to shift lead, they treat you like you don't exist anymore. It was high school 2.0 near the end, but management was switched up entirely after I'd left. Cash guy was stealing from employees and was caught, but no funds would be given back to those who worked so hard for it. This was back in 2021. I'm sure it's gotten better. The coworkers were the best part of that job.

I had a wonderful experience bartending at Joey. I learned a lot on the job and the managers were supportive of training staff well. Out of all of the best restaurants in Coquitlam, Joey is the crown jewel. Lots of customers, amazing co-workers, and management is considerate of flexible scheduling so its an ideal place to work as a student (SFU, Douglas, etc).

I would not hesitate to recommend Joey to anyone looking for a fun place to work while studying (like me). If I was still living in Coquitlam, I would probably still be working there!
