Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, highly organized manager to work across four established restaurants in The Kingsway, Etobicoke. All three locations are close to one another, making it easy to move between them throughout the week.

The restaurants are Merlot, Bramble, Heron & Kitchen On Sixth.

This role will work closely with and support our Group General Manager while helping maintain strong service, organization, accountability, and operating standards across all four restaurants.

The right person will lead by example on the floor, provide excellent hospitality, and show serving staff what polished, thoughtful service should look like. They will also spend time observing how each restaurant operates, identifying areas that are being missed, and making sure agreed tasks and improvements are followed through to completion.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership. You should not need repeated reminders to complete tasks or follow up on issues. When you notice a problem, we expect you to investigate it, suggest a practical solution, and help ensure it is resolved.

This role requires someone who is comfortable holding both staff and managers accountable in a calm, professional, and direct way. You must be willing to address inconsistent performance, missed standards, poor follow through, and recurring operational issues rather than allowing them to continue.

An interest in wine and a solid working knowledge of wine service are also important. The right candidate should be comfortable discussing wine with guests, guiding staff, and helping maintain strong wine service standards across the group.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Group General Manager with daily operations across all four restaurants
  • Maintaining consistent service, hospitality, and presentation standards
  • Coaching serving staff and setting a strong example on the floor
  • Following up on assigned tasks and confirming they have been completed properly
  • Identifying inefficiencies, service gaps, and recurring operational problems
  • Suggesting and helping implement practical improvements
  • Completing regular checks of cleanliness, organization, uniforms, service, and restaurant presentation
  • Holding staff and managers accountable to company expectations
  • Communicating concerns early and bringing forward possible solutions
  • Keeping clear task lists, notes, and records of outstanding issues
  • Supporting staff training and ongoing service development
  • Helping maintain strong wine service standards
  • Stepping into whichever location needs additional leadership or support

  • Able to support the Group General Manager while also working independently
  • Calm and decisive during busy services
  • Experienced in upscale casual or full service restaurants
  • Comfortable working across multiple locations
  • Has a genuine interest in wine and good knowledge of wine service and food pairing

This is not a passive management role. We are looking for someone who notices what needs to be done, takes initiative, follows through, and helps ensure the restaurants operate at a consistently high standard.
