Job Description

We're looking for an experienced hospitality leader to help shape the future of Dope Bakehouse.

This isn't just another management position. As General Manager, you'll be responsible for leading our flagship North Vancouver bakery and café, building a high-performing team, driving business results, and creating the kind of culture people are proud to be part of.

You’ll be setting the tone on the floor and behind the bar. From coaching team members and running great service to fine-tuning our coffee program and building a strong team culture, you’re here to help others level up — while making sure every guest leaves feeling amazing and connected to the neighbourhood.  You’ll delegate tasks, coach, build momentum, and create a space where people genuinely want to show up. You’ll encourage open communication, strong teamwork, and help deliver the experience, energy, and warm hospitality Dope Bakehouse is all about.

You’ll also be in regular convo with other management to align goals, seek out ways to collaborate with our community, and help tighten up communication across the company. You’ll be surrounded by some of the most passionate and incredible coffee pros, pastry chefs, and operators in the game. We’re building something exciting here — and we’re looking for someone ready to bring all their experience, curiosity, and drive into a space that’s still fresh and full of potential. ⸻

About Us: Dope Bakehouse is a hospitality-led pastry and coffee company made up of baristas, chefs, and creatives who give a damn. We build spaces with purpose. We make things with care. And we’re here to create culture while we’re at it. We believe in work that challenges you to be better, and we’re always looking for people who want to push boundaries with us. If you’re curious, humble, and care about the details — let’s talk. ⸻

Qualities We Look For Humility & Respect - You know leadership is about service, not status. You show up for your team, value their skills, and recognize that real respect is earned.

Self-Awareness & Empathy - You listen well, reflect often, and understand your impact on others. You’re always seeking feedback and using it to grow. Optimism & Responsibility You keep the vibes constructive, even when things get tricky. You help your team stay focused and take ownership of outcomes.

Judgment & Common Sense - You know how to stay calm under pressure. You make smart, grounded decisions that keep your team and our guests top of mind.

Growth & Development - You’re not afraid to shake things up — even if it means rethinking what you do best and rebuilding it stronger. ⸻

Who You Are: • You lead with purpose and inspire your team • You genuinely care about coffee, hospitality, and people • You build great culture through hiring, mentorship, and training • You’ve got 3+ years of leadership in a café, bakery, or restaurant setting • Have strong coffee knowledge and the want to teach and grow in this field.

  • Work Permit

About Nemesis Coffee | Dope Bakehouse

Nemesis is a hospitality driven, specialty coffee company composed of highly dedicated baristas, chefs, and creatives. We utilise our pursuits of passion, and the spaces we explore them in as our catalyst to build community and create culture. Created from humble beginnings.

Nemesis set out with a simple yet daring vision: to re-imagine and redefine the meaning of coffee culture in Vancouver and beyond by harmoniously intertwining hospitality, specialty coffee, culinary excellence, design and the arts.

The word “Nemesis” perfectly captures our essence, our against the grain mentality, our need to express individuality, and our constant hunger to push the boundaries of coffee culture.

We wanted to take the power out of the word and give it new meaning; to remove any negative connotations and turn it into something that is authentically us. The inverted heart was a creation derived from love, the deep appreciation for our community, and our want to define our purpose within them. A symbol we can make with our hands, a gesture that can be expressed universally to embody these sentiments.
