Job Description
Our Richmond location is now hiring a dedicated, high-calibre culinary professional to lead our kitchen team.
Position: Executive Chef (NOC 62200)
Available Positions: 1
Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Work Location: 4200 No.3 Road, Richmond, BC, V6X 2C2
Language of Work: English
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan menus, develop new recipes, and ensure food quality and consistency.
• Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of sous-chefs, chefs, and kitchen staff.
• Prepare and cook authentic specialized Hunan dishes.
• Estimate food requirements, inventory, and labor costs; manage kitchen budget.
• Recruit, hire, and onboard kitchen staff; oversee their ongoing training and culinary development.
• Maintain kitchen standards, safety regulations, and workflow efficiency.
• Operate and train staff on advanced cooking equipment, including kitchen automation and automated cooking equipment.
• Lead kitchen safety management and food hygiene compliance.
• Occasional travel within Canada for training and cross-location brand development may be required.
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of culinary experience, including at least 2 years in a kitchen supervisory/management role (e.g., Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Executive Chef).
• Extensive experience and deep culinary knowledge in Chinese cuisine, with a strong preference for Hunan or Sichuan cuisine.
• In-depth knowledge of specialized Chinese ingredients, especially peppers, spices, and authentic seasoning techniques.
• Proven ability to use traditional Chinese kitchen tools safely and efficiently.
• Experience with automated cooking equipment/kitchen robots is an asset.
• Strong leadership and team-management skills.
• Physically capable of standing for long periods and working in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation & Benefits:
• Wage Rate: $39.00 per hour
• Benefits: 10 days of paid annual vacation (or 4% vacation pay), tips sharing, performance-based bonuses, and overtime pay as per BC employment standards.
