About Rayah

Rayah is a French-Moroccan café, restaurant and pastry shop located in the heart of downtown Toronto. We combine the classics of French cuisine with the rich flavours of Morocco in a warm, welcoming environment.

At Rayah, everything is made from scratch. We prepare our own stocks, sauces, merguez sausages, cordon bleus, side dishes, bread, croissants and pastries in-house every day. We do not use frozen or industrially prepared products. We're looking for genuine cooks who are passionate about their craft and take pride in cooking with fresh ingredients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes according to Rayah's recipes and quality standards.

• Prepare food from fresh ingredients from start to finish.

• Demonstrate strong knife skills and proper cutting techniques.

• Follow recipes, portion standards and production schedules.

• Maintain a clean, organized and efficient workstation.

• Strictly follow food safety, sanitation and workplace hygiene standards.

• Apply proper food storage, labeling and FIFO rotation procedures.

• Work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar kitchen position.

• Strong knowledge of fundamental cooking techniques.

• Excellent knife skills.

• Solid understanding of food safety, sanitation and proper food storage procedures.

• Organized, efficient and able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to adapt quickly.

• Available to work weekends.

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

• Professional references are required.

This Position Is Not for You If...

We are not looking for candidates whose experience is limited to fast-food restaurants or kitchens where the job mainly consists of opening bags of frozen products or assembling pre-made food.

We are looking for cooks who genuinely know how to cook, enjoy working with raw ingredients, and want to be part of a kitchen where everything is made from scratch.
