Job Description

The Benue is hiring an experienced chef with strong knowledge of Nigerian cuisine. The successful candidate will prepare high-quality meals for dine-in customers, takeout and online delivery orders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook authentic Nigerian dishes
• Prepare soups, stews, rice dishes, proteins, sides and swallow
• Wash, chop, marinate, season and portion ingredients
• Prepare dine-in, takeout and delivery orders accurately and on time
• Maintain consistent taste, presentation and portion sizes
• Monitor kitchen inventory and report items that need to be reordered
• Properly label, store and rotate food
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
• Follow food-safety and sanitation procedures
• Assist with opening, closing and cleaning duties
• Minimize food waste and follow portion-control standards

Requirements

• Professional cooking or food-preparation experience
• Strong experience preparing Nigerian or West African cuisine
• Ability to produce consistent, high-quality dishes
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen
• Reliable, punctual and organized
• Food Handler Certification preferred
