Job Description

The Benue is hiring a dependable server and food prep person to assist customers, operate the POS system and help prepare and package Nigerian food orders for dine-in, takeout and online delivery.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide friendly service
• Take dine-in, telephone, takeout and delivery orders
• Enter orders accurately into the POS system
• Process cash, debit and credit-card payments
• Monitor online delivery platforms
• Package and label takeout and delivery orders
• Confirm orders are complete before handing them to customers or drivers
• Explain menu items, ingredients and spice levels
• Assist with basic food preparation and portioning
• Wash, chop and package ingredients as directed
• Restock containers, drinks, cutlery and condiments
• Serve dine-in customers when required
• Maintain clean tables, counters and service areas
• Complete opening, closing and cleaning duties
• Coordinate with kitchen staff during busy periods

Requirements

• Restaurant, cashier, server or food-preparation experience preferred
• Comfortable using POS systems and delivery tablets
• Familiarity with Nigerian food is an asset
• Strong customer-service and communication skills
• Able to multitask in a fast-paced restaurant
• Reliable, punctual and organized
• Food Handler Certification preferred
