Job Duties
- Plan, organize, direct, control and supervise operations.
- Prepare menus and determine daily specials.
- Interview, hire and supervise the training of new staff.
- Set work schedules, supervise staff and conduct performance reviews.
- Organize and maintain inventory.
- Monitor revenues and modify procedures and prices.
- Address customers’ complaints in a satisfactory manner.
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed.
- Negotiate prices with suppliers.
- Monitor and administer budget, including labour, inventory and equipment costs.
- Arrange for maintenance and repair work when needed.
- Ensure quality control and health and safety measures are always respected.
- Ensure that the restaurant’s equipment, appliances and facilities are fully operational.
- Maintain a proper standard of orderliness and cleanliness in food preparation, dining, and storage areas.
- Provide coverage for the Food Services Manager, when necessary.
Employment Requirements
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of recent managerial experience in the restaurant industry, including several years of culinary experience.
- Experience managing budgets, setting prices, forecasting and negotiating with suppliers.
- Strong understanding of food service, health and safety, and employment standards requirements.
- Experience setting schedules and onboarding new staff.
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with menu planning and inventory ordering.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and multi-task with an attention to detail.
- Computer knowledge, including working knowledge of Microsoft office and the internet.
- Ability to effectively manage the deli throughout the week, including during the evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Completion of secondary school.
- English language proficiency.
- Work experience with respect to Italian cuisine considered an asset.
Job Details
- $57,595 to $72,100 per year (based on experience).
- Full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Physically demanding.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
