Marketing & Brand Manager

Sumu Restaurant
Downtown Vancouver, BC

SUMU is looking for an experienced, creative, and results-driven Marketing & Brand Manager to take complete ownership of our restaurant's marketing, branding, and guest engagement.

This is not an entry-level social media role.

We're looking for someone who can build and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that drives awareness, creates viral moments, fills seats, and establishes Sumu as one of Vancouver's most viral & talked-about restaurants.

You'll have the creative freedom and responsibility to oversee every aspect of our marketing. From strategy to execution.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Develop and execute the overall marketing strategy

  • Manage all social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn)

  • Plan, film, edit, and publish high-quality short-form video content (Reels, TikTok, Shorts)

  • Create premium graphics and promotional materials using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Produce engaging CapCut edits and trending video content

  • Plan and execute seasonal campaigns, grand openings, special events, and product launches

  • Create marketing calendars and content schedules

  • Build brand awareness and maintain a consistent luxury brand image

  • Manage influencer outreach, partnerships, and hosted events

  • Develop relationships with local creators, food bloggers, and media outlets

  • Coordinate professional photography and videography

  • Manage paid advertising campaigns (Meta, Google, TikTok)

  • Monitor campaign performance and optimize marketing ROI

  • Grow online engagement and increase follower conversion into restaurant traffic

  • Coordinate email marketing and customer retention campaigns

  • Manage online reputation, including Google Reviews and social media engagement

  • Collaborate closely with Operations to promote new menu items, events, and promotions

  • Stay ahead of current food, hospitality, and social media trends

  • Identify opportunities for viral content and brand partnerships

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who has a proven track record of building brands—not simply posting content.

Required Experience

  • 3–5+ years in marketing, branding, or social media management

  • Experience working with restaurants, hospitality, lifestyle, luxury, or food brands

  • Strong portfolio showcasing previous campaigns and creative work

  • Experience producing high-performing social media content

  • Demonstrated success growing social media accounts organically

  • Experience managing influencer campaigns

  • Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, Meta Business Suite, and current social media trends

  • Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills

  • Strong photography and videography skills

  • Experience editing professional content using CapCut and/or Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Graphic design experience using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously

  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships with Vancouver influencers, creators, food bloggers, and local media

  • Experience launching new restaurant concepts

  • Knowledge of SEO, Google Business Profile optimization, and email marketing

  • Experience with Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads

  • Experience working with AI creative tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, Runway, Veo, or similar platforms

  • Event planning and community partnership experience

  • Basic photography and lighting equipment knowledge
