The Vancouver Club is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional who is passionate about championing the employee experience and creating a workplace where hospitality professionals can thrive.
This role is about more than policies and processes. It's about being a trusted partner, coach, and resource for our team. We're looking for someone who leads with empathy, builds meaningful relationships, and understands the importance of taking care of the people who spend every day taking care of others.
As the Human Resources Manager, you will oversee all aspects of Human Resources, including recruitment, onboarding, talent management, employee relations, payroll support, compensation and benefits, training, compliance, and organizational culture. You will help foster a positive, high-performing workplace that reflects the Club's values and service standards.
This role reports into the Director of Club Experience. Potential start date is Tuesday, September 8th, 2026.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Workforce Planning & Talent Acquisition
- Lead full-cycle recruitment and onboarding across all departments.
- Develop internal talent pipelines and manage external sourcing.
- Collaborate with leadership on workforce planning strategies.
- Draft and review employment contracts; ensure hiring practices are compliant and consistent.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Deliver structured onboarding to support employee engagement and retention.
- Coordinate employee exits, including ROEs, exit interviews, and system access removal.
- Ensure smooth transitions for hires, transfers, and terminations.
Employee & Labour Relations
- Maintain and enforce HR policies in alignment with BC Employment Standards.
- Support managers with performance and conduct matters using progressive discipline and documentation.
- Provide expert advice on dispute resolution and employee concerns.
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
- Administer benefits programs (enrollments, changes, terminations).
- Maintain wage grids and ensure pay equity across departments.
- Conduct wage and benefits benchmarking and employee surveys.
- Maintain confidential and compliant HR records and systems.
Performance & Development
- Coordinate annual performance reviews and development planning.
- Guide managers in setting goals, giving feedback, and assessing talent.
- Monitor employee behavior and performance to support accountability.
- Lead training initiatives (e.g. Bullying & Harassment, First Aid, WSET).
- Support career development and succession planning for future leaders.
Engagement & Culture
- Lead employee engagement efforts including surveys and wellness programs.
- Organize recognition events (e.g. Employee of the Quarter).
- Promote inclusion and support the Club’s Humanity to Rise culture.
- Maintain internal communication tools (e.g. staff bulletins, events).
HR Technology, Analytics & Change Leadership
- Ensure data accuracy across HR systems (e.g. payroll, employee files, performance tracking).
- Use data to support decision-making and inform leadership.
- Lead process improvements and contribute to Club-wide change initiatives.
Other Duties
- Represent HR in departmental and Club-wide meetings.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- CPHR designation (or in progress) or equivalent education and HR experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, including 2 years in a leadership/advisory capacity.
- Deep knowledge of BC Employment Standards, HR best practices, and privacy laws.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and HRIS systems.
- Strong communicator with the ability to coach and influence across all levels.
- Organized, confidential, and service-focused.
- Experience in hospitality or private club environments is an asset.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
COMPENSATION
$85,000 - $90,000 per annum
