Public support is needed to compel the federal government to increase support of Canada's foodservice sector

Recognizing that restaurants are a critical pillar of Canada's culture and economy, Restaurants Canada has called for a national working group to coordinate the revival of Canada's foodservice sector.
The proposed working group would focus on the three key areas:
1) Creating timely consultation mechanisms to make sure that businesses impacted by significant restrictions are provided "sufficient, efficient and effective aid"
2) Joint communications and coordinated campaigns to reassure the public that restaurants are safe and to promote takeout and delivery
3) Coordinated action to ensure that restaurant operators are "set up for success in the post-pandemic economic environment"
Restaurants Canada asks the public to contribute to the industry's call for help by reaching out to Members of Parliament in support of its recommendations.
Today, over 21% of the foodservice workforce is still not recovered from the job losses caused by the pandemic beginning in March. And, half of Canada's restaurants are at risk of closing within six months.
