DO NOT recommend working here. I had a manager make me pay for a bill that got settled wrong (this is illegal and he knew it). When i confronted him the following day for my money back he wrote me up for "stealing from the company". I know that manager doesnt work there anymore, but I dont trust the owners skill in hiring managers. There was also a manager who only told women to clean the washrooms (both men and women) because he legit said "women are more dirty".. word for word. the managers also take a huge percentage of your tips, but dont help run food, bus tables, or help in general really. do. not. work. here.

As said, ownership does not care about people merely cares about money. Ownership absolutely SNAPS at employees when things are not going how they want and coaches down with critical and negative language bordering on verbal abuse. This culture permeates the whole place, hence why they are known in the industry for having such high turnover.

Per Se is a big, busy restaurant with a really nice covered patio along Smithe. The owner takes care of every detail to make sure Per Se's guests are taken care of and he takes good care of his employees too.

The pay is decent but you learn a lot behind the line and I made a number of good friends. Generally speaking the staff are all happy to be there and we all worked together as a team to keep the guests coming back.
