Was hired the beginning of January, they continued to hire a bunch of staff they said to prepare for the summer. Was fired today along with three others for no reason. Was told " think you're not a good fit for the company". No reason or warning anything was wrong. Seems like they hired a lot of people to then get rid of people who they don't like. Rather than support and train the staff they hired to be better. I was willing to learn and wanted to improve and that wasn't enough for them. Manager who was asked to escort me out of the building said "sorry girl" as I walked out the door. A lot of staff who have been there for awhile are unhappy with lack of hours and excuses from management.

The Moose is a sports-themed bar near Union Station. It's a favourite pre-game bar for the Jays and Leafs crew who drink lots and tip pretty well so sales are high and the money is good. The work environment is fun and casual and my coworkers were great. I think it's closed right now cause of covid but I recommend it once they open up again.

At first with a pretty decent management training program and digital food safety/labelling/specs/prep system, my hopes were quite high. I thought this was going to be a structured, well managed monster corporation. Instead every single promotion, location opening, compensation increase, just kept getting put off. When I would follow up about any improvements, opportunities or anything that I could do to step into the role I was promised, I was instead told generic things like "you are killing it, doing so well, you just need to simmer in the sauce a little while longer". Simmer in the sauce. What kind of productive advice is that?!

Many of the back of house managers/chefs are in the exact same position, but it's a little bit more tragic, as they have been there for years. This in addition to the constant ignored and brushed under the rug sexual harassment complaints made by female employees in many of the concepts and locations (seriously, there is an Instagram account dedicated to fighting against the sexual harassment that has been going on for over a decade, check it out), made it too obvious that it was time for me to leave. So I did.

I wouldn't recommend working here.
