Job Description

Operations Manager

Our client, a growing 3PL is currently searching for 2 Operations Managers to join their team in the Vaughan/Concord area. These are newly created roles!

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve 'Safety Comes First' culture, enforce policies for workplace safety, implement safety measures, procedures, systems
• Oversee operations of our warehousing facilities, manage the flow and quality of work in the warehouse operations to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime
• Drive cost improvement activities by identifying system improvements, inventory management, headcount optimization, and improved square footage utilization
• Work closely with the Inventory Control team to ensure that cycle counts, spot counts and yearly wall-to-wall inventory counts are conducted on time and following all related SOPs
• Lead internal process improvements to optimize picking, packing, put-away and shipment processes. Continue to develop Standard Operating Procedures and ensure that all warehouse operations comply to SOPs
• Work closely with Planning and Transportation Teams to ensure a balanced and smooth operation
• Partner with temporary staffing agencies to support high peak periods and demands and set clear and measurable objectives for the team
• Maintain warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
• Manage and own warehouse operations budget

Skills and Requirements:

• The Ideal candidate will have a strong background and proven track record in managing the Warehousing operation, including:
• 5+ years of people management and/or leadership experience is required
• Track record of building efficient teams with strong work ethics, leadership skills and the ability to confidently lead people through change in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, and Warehouse Management Systems, SAP and RF Pathways experience
• Strong interpersonal skills, proven problem solver, solutions orientated and a self-starter
• Proven ability to effectively lead projects with a strong attention to detail, organized and strategic approach
• Proven track record of coaching, training, and managing teams. Detailed oriented ability to multi-task
• Relevant education in supply chain, operations management, industrial engineering or equivalent work experience in managing warehouse operations is an asset
