Job Description

Position Title: Domestic Cook
Employer: Swati Agarwal
Employer Address: Brampton, Ontario (L6X 0X3)
Work Location: Brampton, Ontario (in employer’s home)
Language of Work: English

Terms of the Position:
- Terms: Permanent, full-time
- Hours: 30 hours/week, working five days per week (Monday to Thursday and some Fridays or Sundays)
o Normally Scheduled Shifts:
▪ Monday to Thursday: 7am-10am and 3pm-6pm
▪ Alternate Fridays or Sundays: 7am-10am and 3pm-6pm
- Wage: $20-36/hour, depending on experience
- Benefits:
o Optional accommodation available at no charge on a live-in basis (this is NOT required for the position)
o Public transportation is available
- Work Conditions:
o Must be willing and able to work mornings, days, evenings and weekends
o Physically demanding, standing for extended periods of time, repetitive tasks

Skills and Experience Requirements:
- Education:
o No specific education requirements
- Minimum Experience and Knowledge Requirements:
o At least 2-3 years of experience as a domestic cook preparing a wide range of vegetarian Indian cuisines and cooking for persons with diabetes.
- Personal Attributes:
o Possess great attention to detail, flexibility, judgement, and initiative
o Demonstrate client focus with an ability to be organized, reliable and dependable

Job Duties:
- Prepare a variety of naans and breads including butter naan, tandoori naan, garlic naan, laccha paratha, coriander naan, mint paratha, sprouted daal parontha, Amritsari kulcha, Gobi kulcha, Tava roti, Puri, Bhatura, Masala Dosa, Idll
- Prepare a variety of vegetarian dishes including daal makhni, karahi paneer, malai kofta, masala baingan, mixed vegetables, mutter paneer, saag paneer, sahi paneet, vegetable kababs, vegetarian Manchurian foods, chili paneer, baingan bhartha, sambar, masala vadda, upma, dhokla, vegetarian soups, daliya, uttapam, rice, sabjl
- Prepare a variety of beverages including mango lassi, masala tea, coffee, falooda shakes, lassi
- Prepare a variety of desserts including moong daal halwa, kheer, soogi halwa, gulab jamun, ras malai, jalebi, sevai
- Prepare special foods for children (ages 9-12 years old)
- Prepare and cook special meals suitable for a diabetic diet
- Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
- Prepare and cook special meals as instructed
- Plan menus
- Determine size of food portions
- Estimate food requirements and costs
- Monitor and order food and other kitchen supplies
