Prado is opening in Calgary

We’re opening our first Prado Coffee in Calgary and we’re pretty excited about it!

Prado is built on exceptional coffee, good food and neighbourhood cafes that people want to come back to. We’re looking for a Cafe Kitchen Lead to help shape the food side of the cafe from day one.

This is a hands-on role for someone who cares about food quality, likes a well-run kitchen and understands that great cafe food should feel fresh, consistent and easy to love.

About the Role

The Cafe Kitchen Lead is responsible for the daily execution of Prado’s food program. You’ll prepare sandwiches, wraps, baked goods and made-to-order brunch items, including eggs and toast options. You’ll also help keep the food program organized, stocked and ready for service.

This role also supports recipe development, testing and food improvements in conjunction with Head Office. That might mean a new muffin recipe, a better garnish for a toast option or support for a seasonal feature so it can be made consistently by the team.

This is a cafe role, so you’ll be part of the full store team. That means supporting service, bar or POS when needed and helping the cafe run smoothly during busy periods.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare sandwiches, wraps, cookies, bars, loaves and other cafe food items according to Prado recipes and daily needs

• Support streamlined cafe line cooking and brunch service, including eggs, toast options and made-to-order menu items

• Maintain consistency in portioning, presentation, freshness, timing and quality

• Prepare food safely, efficiently and with attention to detail so the cafe is ready for service

• Support food ordering and inventory in partnership with the Cafe Manager

• Track ingredient use, waste, shortages and product issues

• Keep food storage, prep areas and ingredients clean, organized and ready to use

• Monitor food quality, presentation and customer feedback

• Support recipe development, testing and improvements in conjunction with Head Office

• Communicate approved recipe updates clearly so the team can execute them consistently

• Support the bar and POS when required, including preparing drinks to Prado standards

• Contribute to service and store flow during busy periods

What We’re Looking For

• Previous cafe kitchen, food prep or similar experience

• Experience with cafe-style food production, including sandwiches, baking, prep and made-to-order food service

• Ability to contribute to recipe development, testing and food improvements

• Strong organization, follow-through and attention to detail

• Ability to communicate clearly and train others

• Understanding of food cost, waste and ingredient use

• Food Safe Level 1 or willingness to obtain

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
