Job Description: Food & Beverage Shift Lead
Position Summary: The Food & Beverage (F&B) Shift Lead at Beach Grove Golf Club plays a critical role in ensuring seamless front-of-house operations during service. Acting as a senior server with additional leadership responsibilities, the Shift Lead serves as the go-to person for the F&B team while on shift and in the absence of a supervisor or management. This role requires a high level of professionalism, exceptional member service, and the ability to lead by example in a private club setting. The F&B Shift Lead reports directly to the Food & Beverage Manager and collaborates closely with other departments to ensure smooth daily operations and events.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Leadership:
o Oversee front-of-house operations during assigned shifts, ensuring exceptional service and smooth workflow.
o Act as the primary point of contact for F&B staff during service, addressing any immediate concerns or operational challenges.
o Assist with the opening and closing procedures of the clubhouse and dining spaces, ensuring all areas are secure and prepared for the next service.
o Ensure that all service stations are well-stocked, clean, and set up according to club standards.
o Check and monitor all applicable platforms, including emails, online and written reservations, event modules for function set up and details, and the tee sheet for business levels, to ensure the dining spaces are set up for success.
2. Team Support and Training:
o Train and mentor new front-of-house staff, reinforcing service standards and club expectations.
o Provide on-the-job coaching and support to ensure staff deliver exceptional member experiences.
o Foster a positive, team-oriented atmosphere, ensuring effective communication between staff and management.
o Cross train in the Bistro and provide coverage to this area as needed.
3. Event Execution Support:
o Ensure that any events occurring during the shift are set and ready to go as per the function sheet or event order.
o Review event details ahead of service and coordinate with staff to ensure smooth execution.
o Collaborate with the Events Coordinator, Executive Chef, Stewards, Bistro team, and other departments to ensure seamless event execution.
4. Member Experience:
o Provide a high level of personalized service, engaging with members to anticipate and fulfill their needs.
o Address member concerns or special requests promptly and professionally.
o Ensure service excellence aligns with the club’s high standards and enhances the overall member experience.
5. Collaboration Across Departments:
o Work closely with the F&B Manager to align shift operations with broader club goals.
o Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service coordination.
o Support collaboration with the stewarding department to maintain cleanliness and organization in F&B areas.
6. Administrative and Financial Duties:
o Monitor and enforce cash handling and point-of-sale procedures.
o Assist with inventory management, ensuring sufficient stock of necessary supplies.
o Provide feedback on menu offerings and suggest improvements based on member preferences.
o May assist with other administrative duties including providing support to the office during vacations or days off.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in food and beverage service, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of private club service expectations and standards.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of opening/closing procedures and event execution support.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Compensation:
• $19.00 per hour plus gratuities
• Golf and meal privileges
