Temporary position covering an 18 month maternity leave.

As a passionate Human Resources Business Partner, you will collaborate with the management teams to build and to ensure the success of their Human Resources strategies in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, performance management, employment legislation, policy interpretation and collective agreement interpretation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports and coaches casino management to ensure application of human resources practices, legislation, programs, policies and regulations for casino operations.
  • Advises on all employee and labour relations issues at the property. Works proactively with management, employees and the Union to ensure a productive and respectful workplace. Advises on grievances at the property. Coaches managers with regards to labour relations issues and interprets collective agreements to ensure consistency among departments.
  • Provides direction, support and supervision to HR Coordinators and other, more junior, HR roles on site.
  • Provides guidance to hiring managers through HR processes and procedures and helps coach the leadership team in order to achieve a high performing culture.
  • Serves as a liaison between the property and corporate head office in the implementation and standardization of processes, policies and procedures
  • Effectively manages, facilitates and plans the recruitment and hiring processes, activities and results.
  • Monitors and follows up on employee health or injury related absences. Using a detail oriented, and resourceful approach investigates, monitors and responds to information requests from third parties or insurers.
  • Assists with the identification of training needs, the selection, development and delivery of appropriate programs.
  • Supports the design, implementation and ongoing delivery of Human Resource programs and initiatives.
  • Researches, analyzes, makes recommendations and compiles human resources statistics and practices.
  • Retains a thorough and updated knowledge of human resources practices, legislation and policies to respond to employee and management inquiries.
What You Bring
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in business administration or human resource management or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible human resources experience preferred
  • Experience working within a complex unionized environment
  • CHRP designation an asset
  • Knowledge of all applicable HR legislation
  • Knowledge of all HR functions and ability to develop, implement and administer programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and negotiations skills
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of discretion and judgment
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and act as a facilitator
  • A flexible team player with a proven ability to work successfully in a matrix reporting environment
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
