Job Description

Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced full-time Private Chef for a home where the principals are sophisticated about food and wine, enjoy eating daily healthy meals, and love to entertain.

The Chef should be able to prepare day-to-day low-fat meals and elevated cuisine for events, all with a focus on fresh and local products. Applicants should be flexible with schedules for regular entertaining

The position is full time, 5 days per week with flexibility for weekends and holiday entertaining

 Primary Responsibilities:

·         Plan weekly menus and menus for entertaining in collaboration with the principal

·         Provide lunch and dinner daily, breakfast is not necessary

·         Manage Kitchen inventories budgeting and all provisioning

·         Assist with maintaining of household systems as they relate to the food and entertaining

·         Table setting and staff management for all entertaining

·         Able to provide front of house food and beverage service to guests for small events

·         Maintain a clean kitchen at all times

Applicant Qualities:

·         Previous experience as a Private Chef (5 years minimum)

·         Must have strong culinary and communication skills; proficient at planning and discussing menus with Principal

·         Comfortable developing weekly menus and designing menus for entertaining

·         Strong knowledge of the modern history of food and cooking styles, particularly the Mediterranean diet

·         Familiar with the best local sources for provisioning

·         Adaptable, self-motivated, with excellent time management, strong organizational skills and attention to detail

·         A team player able to work cooperatively with household staff and vendors

·         A relaxed and easy-going demeanor

·         Polished professional presentation, must be committed to maintaining privacy and confidentiality at all times

·         Good basic computer skills

·         Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record (staff vehicle provided)

·         Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
