Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as a Line Cook at our brand-new restaurant, Freebird.
Freebird is a roots-inspired Canadian restaurant, bar and oyster room. In addition, we will offer creative cocktails, amazing wines and rotating beers in a high energy room and able to seat 100 at tables inside, 70 seats on the heated patio and additional bar seats.

The Line Cook position will be responsible for assisting the culinary leadership team in organizing and executing the exciting daily restaurant service according to company policies and industry standards.

Main Duties & Responsibilities...
Ability to work well under stressful, high pressure situations
Ensures the efficient production of food and prep for service on varied stations
Utilize safe work habits and notify the chef on duty of any dangerous or unsafe places in the work area immediately.
Responsible to implement and maintain all standards set by the company
Produces and maintains the highest food quality
Is instrumental in assuring the highest health, sanitation and safety standards necessary in food handling and overall cleanliness
Follow all menus, recipes, methods, pictures and specifications to achieve guest satisfaction
Ensure teamwork and proper communication with the front of house staff
Ensure that guest and team members requests are accommodated when and where possible
Develop oneself for continued enrichment, and future advancement
Ensure that quality food service and product is delivered
Shares the overall responsibility of proper storing procedures, food orders, food cost, equipment, sanitation and hygiene to company and food safe standards
Performs other duties as assigned by Chef & General Manager

Required Skills/Qualifications:
Food Serve Safe certification
Strong knowledge of health & safety as well as sanitation regulations
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
Individual must possess a good work history and stability
Excellent cooking skills
Has the ability to taste all foods to assure correct preparation
Product cost and quality conscious
