Job Description

The Role

We’re looking for a strong, operational Assistant General Manager (AGM) who can lead a team, run the floor, and drive results in a busy airport environment.

This is a hands-on role — not a desk job. You’ll be partnering directly with the General Manager to manage daily shifts, support your team, and ensure our high standards of hospitality are executed flawlessly every day. If you’ve worked in full-service restaurants and are ready to step into a larger leadership role with a global industry leader, this is the perfect next step toward becoming a General Manager.

What the Job Really Looks Like

Operating in an airport comes with unique dynamics. To succeed here, you need to be ready for:

  • The Airport Schedule: Early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays are part of the hospitality reality.
  • The Pace: A fast-paced, high-volume environment with a constant flow of international guests.
  • The Security: All team members must be able to obtain and maintain an airport security clearance (RAIC).

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Floor Leadership: Lead daily service on the floor, managing labor lines and shift momentum in real-time.
  • People Development: Coach, train, and develop a high-performing team of servers, bartenders, and supervisors.
  • Operational Admin: Support scheduling, staffing, inventory, ordering, and tight cost controls.
  • Financial Performance: Help drive sales across wine, food, and retail offerings to hit location metrics.
  • Guest Relations: Handle guest opportunities with professionalism and cultivate a welcoming, premium service culture.
  • Compliance: Ensure a safe, clean, and fully compliant workplace in accordance with BC standards and airport regulations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 2+ years of leadership experience in full-service restaurants, hospitality, or premium wine/retail concepts.
  • Floor Presence: Strong floor leadership—you thrive under pressure and love running a busy service.
  • Team Builder: Someone who knows how to motivate, build morale, and hold a team accountable.
  • Wine Passion: A foundational knowledge of wine is a major plus, but a genuine eagerness to learn and share that passion is mandatory.
  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable with modern POS systems, Excel, and basic restaurant administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Must be 19+ (BC legal serving age).
  • Valid Serving It Right certification.
  • Flexibility to work a dynamic hospitality schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to successfully complete the required airport background check for security clearance.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: $55,000 – $70,000 CAD (commensurate with experience).
