Job Description

ZIKR is a new Indian restaurant located inside the Holiday Inn Hotel in Cloverdale, BC, and we are looking for a skilled and passionate Indian Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine, spices, curries, tandoor cooking, preparation methods, and kitchen operations. We are looking for someone who takes pride in food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and teamwork, and who can perform well in a fast-paced professional kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes with consistency and high quality
• Handle mise en place, prep, marination, sauces, curries, and tandoor items as required
• Ensure proper portioning, presentation, and taste standards are maintained
• Monitor food quality, freshness, and kitchen hygiene at all times
• Follow recipes, prep lists, and kitchen procedures accurately
• Support menu development and daily feature planning when needed
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, coolers, and storage areas
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
• Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during busy periods
• Assist with inventory control, stock rotation, and minimizing wastage

Requirements:

• Previous experience as an Indian Chef, Curry Chef, Tandoor Chef, or similar role
• Strong understanding of Indian spices, gravies, tandoor cooking, and regional dishes
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Culinary training or relevant kitchen experience is an asset
