Job Description

Head Chef – Gastropub Opening (South Surrey / White Rock)
We are preparing to open a new gastropub in the South Surrey / White Rock area and are seeking a Head Chef to lead our kitchen from the ground up. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in building systems, mentoring teams, and delivering consistently great food in a busy, community-driven environment.

About the Role : As Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, including menu execution, staffing, food quality, cost control, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. You will play a key role in shaping the kitchen culture and helping establish the standards that will define our brand.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all back-of-house operations
• Execute and refine a menu focused on elevated pub fare
• Hire, train, and mentor kitchen staff
• Manage food costs, ordering, and inventory
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
• Maintain consistency, efficiency, and high standards during service
• Collaborate with ownership and management on seasonal features and ongoing improvements

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume restaurant or pub
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Experience with opening restaurants or building kitchen teams is an asset
• Solid understanding of food costing, ordering, and inventory systems
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
• A positive attitude and commitment to teamwork
