Job Description

VICE PRESIDENT, INSTITUTIONAL SALES, PUBLIC MARKETS


We are currently seeking a Vice President with a minimum of 5 years' direct public markets institutional sales experience, to play a leading role within our client’s distribution team. The successful candidate’s primary role is to lead sales and marketing-related activities in respect of manager-clients and support the firm’s ongoing research for prospective public market clients. The successful candidate will market these managers’ capabilities to the top institutional investors in the country, including pension plans, endowments, foundations, banks, insurance companies, and family offices, across multiple asset classes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Outreach and selling through to the Canadian institutional investor universe, benefiting from, and maintaining a deep knowledge of investor allocations and future interest across markets
  • Broad comprehension of our public manager-clients’ range of investment capabilities to add value throughout the sales process
  • Stewardship of key fundraising mandates, including prospective investor target lists and marketing materials, road show implementation, CRM input, deliverables, and client reporting
  • Manage ongoing client relationship management, including frequent updates and reporting on the prospective investor sales process/pipeline and assisting in any compliance-related tasks in coordination with the Head of Compliance
  • Conducting and leading roadshow/meetings, including assembly of presentation materials, developing prospective investor profiles, and coordinating prep calls with client teams as necessary
  • Post-subscription/transaction support, including performance and fee tracking and invoice review
  • Ongoing research on international managers as prospective clients for distribution into the Canadian institutional market and supporting the Origination team’s efforts in manager due diligence, negotiation, contracting, and onboarding


As a team member, the successful candidate will be exposed to and work very cooperatively with Distribution and Origination team members and activities in multiple asset classes, including public markets, real estate, infrastructure, private equity, and private credit. Alongside this, they will be expected to contribute to other organizational and team responsibilities and firm development as necessary, and to partner with and support other employees in the execution of their roles.


Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in business or related field (finance, economics, etc.)
  • 7-10 years industry experience and a minimum of 5 years in a direct public markets institutional sales function
  • CFA Charterholder or advanced enrollment in the CFA program preferred
  • French literacy/bilingualism would be an asset, but is not a requirement


Requirements:

  • Excellent sales orientation and initiative; proven track record as a salesperson in the institutional space
  • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial and collegial non-hierarchical environment, both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, at both an individual and group level
  • Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to handle challenging client situations and time-sensitive project management
  • Very strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • Comfort with software applications, including CRMs (DealCloud experience preferred), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and relevant databases (e.g., eVestment, Morningstar, etc.)
