Job Description & Summary

You’ll focus on designing communication strategies that aid in implementing new policies and programmes and that will enhance the organisation’s relations with the community, public, government, shareholders, and employees.

Our Communications team combines expertise including corporate and issues communications, internal communications, change management, media relations, public affairs, digital and social communications and analytics. Meaningful work you’ll be part of

As a Senior Manager, Public Relations you will help drive our PR efforts in building our thought leadership profile, helping us build a pipeline of strong subject matter experts in our leadership profiling efforts as well as issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop national PR plan/s based for maximizing markets and client-facing campaigns, in consultation with members of the Communications team; and ensure that our PR strategy reflects our Firm strategy and vision, and achieves our goals which aligns with the Firm’s key themes, campaigns and thought leadership

  • Provide innovative and impactful communications tactics and activities for delivery across multiple external audiences, via appropriate digital channels and platforms

  • Provide strategic guidance and advice to effectively manage the communication needs of regional and national stakeholders

  • Research opportunities to build regional and national leader profiles and position appropriately regarding relevant areas of focus and the Firm’s overall brand and key marketplace themes

  • Work closely with the CRO, OGC, CMO and National Communications Director on any reputational or issues management. Involves working with the legal counsel team, risk management and Canadian Leadership Team (CLT)

  • Advise the Firm on PR protocol, key messages, and spokespeople

  • Provide counsel, coaching, advice and support to regional and national leaders, as aligned to Firm’s brand, positioning, strategy and priorities

  • Work with PR Manager to manage vendor relationships (media monitoring, media agency, etc.)

  • Oversee preparation of media monitoring reports for national campaigns, monthly and quarterly reporting

  • Work with PR Manager on establishing and building relationships with national and regional media contacts to enable coverage of campaigns and external leadership profiles, in conjunction with the Manager, Public Relations

Experience and skills you’ll use to solve

  • Proven experience in direct media relations from communications and/or media relations experience in other Professional services firms, large multinational corporations, or consulting firms / PR agencies managing large-firm clients

  • Demonstrated strategic media planning and implementation

  • Intellectual curiosity and deep understanding of key economic and business trends

  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to draft OpEds, edit articles, craft press releases and oversee interviews with senior leaders and prep them for media interaction

  • Strong ability to develop a strategic PR approach to align to firm strategic priorities with marketing and communications plans

  • Exceptional understanding of best practice media relations approaches, vehicles, strategies and tactics

  • Familiar with the integration of social media into PR campaigns

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and public relations skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, stakeholder management skills and ability to work in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders

  • Strong project management, problem solving, organizational and research skills with a keen attention to detail

  • Ability to motivate, coach and inspire top performance within the PR team, ensure the PR team works closely with the rest of the team, and have the capability to resolve conflict within or between teams in an organization

  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset

  • Ability to execute under tight timelines, pressure and competing priorities with limited supervision
