Kitchen Operations Manager / Chef de Cuisine

Frankie Solarik Holdings — the creative force behind BarChef Toronto, Prequel & Co. Apothecary, and Compton Ave. — is seeking a highly experienced Kitchen Operations Manager / Chef de Cuisine to lead and elevate culinary operations across our award-winning venues.

This is a senior leadership role within one of Canada’s most progressive hospitality groups. The position integrates culinary excellence, operational discipline, and creative collaboration, ensuring that each kitchen reflects the immersive and artistic identity synonymous with the BarChef brand.

The successful candidate will oversee multi-venue kitchen performance, mentor and develop high-level culinary teams, and drive consistency, innovation, and financial efficiency across all operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate kitchen operations across multiple venues

  • Develop, cost, and execute seasonal menus in collaboration with Chef Frankie Solarik and culinary leadership

  • Manage ordering systems, par levels, supplier relations, and product standardization

  • Lead, mentor, and performance-manage kitchen teams to maintain excellence and accountability

  • Collaborate with bar and R&D departments to create integrated culinary and cocktail programs

  • Monitor and optimize labour costs, COGS, and inventory controls

  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, HACCP, and regulatory standards

  • Maintain exceptional standards of presentation, cleanliness, and operational organization

  • Contribute to seasonal launches, R&D initiatives, and high-profile off-site activations


Qualifications

  • 5+ years progressive culinary leadership experience (Chef de Cuisine, Executive Sous Chef, or equivalent)

  • Strong foundation in modernist, French-inspired, or fine-dining techniques

  • Demonstrated success managing multi-unit or high-volume refined operations

  • Advanced understanding of cost control, purchasing strategy, and inventory systems

  • Clear communicator with strong leadership presence and organizational precision

  • Creative, collaborative mindset with meticulous attention to detail

  • Food Handler Certification required; HACCP knowledge strongly preferred
