Job Description

OVERVIEW OF POSITION - Prep Cook & Dishwasher

As proper food handling and safety is of the utmost importance, a primary role of the prep and line cooks is to monitor sanitation, food quality, and food freshness. This position is highly physical; therefore, individuals must possess a strong level of physical stamina. Candidates must have previous kitchen experience and some formal culinary training is desirable. Ideal candidates are both efficient and effective employees who possess superior time management skills and communication skills, are team players, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Everyone on the Impact Kitchen team must remain cognizant of the new COVID-19 health & safety focus, regulations and show awareness by following all pertinent guidelines, both general & to their specific task(s).

Reports to: Back of House Manager on Duty (BOH MOD)


Preparation, production and execution of menu items and food quality standards according to detailed recipes and instructions

Receiving and storage of deliveries

Effective storage, management, and safe rotation (FIFO) of all products

Cleaning, sanitation and maintenance of kitchen equipment and food production spaces

Strict adherence to company, municipal and provincial guidelines as they are related to food safety and safe workplace environments

100% accuracy with all regular and COVID-related health & safety guidelines passed down both by Impact Kitchen & local, provincial, & federal government mandates

Operation and maintenance of dishwashing unit and dish cleaning areas

Management and storage of daily waste including recycling and organics


Minimum of 1 - 2 years of kitchen experience with a general understanding of cooking fundamentals and practices

Strong understanding of food safety and public health practices

Ability to execute and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask when required

Ability to communicate effectively, respectfully and work well with others in a team based setting

Be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time

Availability to work days, evenings, and weekends as business demands

Ability to lift up to 50 LBS
