Job Description

Seeking Full-Time Private Chef

We’re looking for an experienced Private Chef or Cook to join a home where the Principal loves to cook, loves to entertain, and is very hands on in her kitchen when time permits. Seeking someone who shares that passion for fresh, healthy, flavourful food without unnecessary formality.

This isn’t a “white-tablecloth” kitchen. Meals should feel thoughtful, nourishing, and approachable - more Mediterranean villa than fine-dining tasting menu. You’ll prepare day-to-day meals for one principal and occasionally for small dinner gatherings (8–10 guests). The right candidate enjoys creating food that’s as inviting as it is delicious, with a focus on balance, simplicity, and great ingredients (like fresh vegetables from our garden!).



About The Role:

Prepare daily meals that are healthy, flavourful, and elegantly simple — not overly styled or fussy.

Collaborate with the Principal to plan weekly menus and special occasion meals.

Cook with a focus on Mediterranean-style cuisine using seasonal, local ingredients.

Maintain and organize the household recipe database, keeping recipes accurate and user-friendly.

Manage kitchen inventories, budgeting, and provisioning from preferred local sources and markets.

Keep the kitchen organized, efficient, and spotless.

Occasionally assist with the vegetable garden in coordination with the gardener.

Set tables, select dishware, and provide friendly, professional service for small gatherings.

Assist with event preparation and smooth day-of execution for in-home entertaining.

Optionally manage the household wine collection.





About You:

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Private Chef or Cook.

A passion for simple, seasonal, well-prepared food — not elaborate restaurant plating.

Confident collaborating with a Principal who enjoys being in the kitchen.

Deep understanding of Mediterranean and contemporary healthy cooking.

Knowledgeable about food history and writers, with curiosity for ongoing learning.

Calm, adaptable, and organized; comfortable managing multiple moving parts without pretense.

Professional, discreet, and respectful of privacy at all times.

A good communicator with a positive, easygoing personality — a good fit for a friendly, down-to-earth household.

Comfortable with light tech use (recipe databases, kitchen records).

Flexibility for availability around entertaining, and availability for holidays will be key.

Valid driver’s license with a clean record and legal right to work in Canada.



The position pays $90,000 - $110,000 depending on experience, with annual holiday allowance, and a modest health plan.
