Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver, located in the heart of downtown, is an elegant, full-service hotel with over 500 guest rooms and a dynamic meetings and events operation. Our passionate front-of-house team pairs refined service standards with the culinary vision of Chef Alex Chen and Chef Roger Ma to deliver exceptional guest experiences across our events spaces and Michelin-recommended restaurant.

We are seeking an experienced Banquet Captain with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a luxury hotel environment to lead and execute flawless meetings, conferences, weddings, and special events.

Lead banquet service teams to deliver polished, efficient, and memorable guest experiences.

Anticipate needs, manage service flow, and resolve issues to directly impact guest satisfaction and repeat business.

Elevated Event Atmosphere
Through attention to detail and strong leadership, help maintain the sophisticated atmosphere that defines Sutton Place events.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Lead and oversee banquet service during meetings, conferences, weddings, and special events

  • Act as the primary on-floor contact during events, ensuring timelines and service standards are met

  • Supervise, support, and coach leads and banquet servers to ensure consistent execution

  • Maintain strong knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including ingredients and preparation methods

  • Coordinate closely with culinary and events teams to ensure smooth event flow

  • Set up, strike, and maintain event spaces according to event orders and hotel standards

  • Maintain a polished appearance and professional demeanor at all times

  • Assist in other food and beverage outlets as required

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Banquet Captain or senior banquet server in a 4-star or luxury hotel

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to service excellence

  • Physically able to lift and move up to 40 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods
