Position Summary

The Server Assistant contributes to a seamless and memorable dining experience by supporting the front-of-house team in a fast-paced restaurant environment. This role requires a keen attention to detail, a proactive approach to guest service, and a commitment to maintaining the standards and values of the establishment. Working collaboratively with servers, kitchen staff, and management, the Server Assistant helps ensure that operations run smoothly, and guests feel welcomed and cared for throughout their visit. This position reports to the General Manager, with directions and instructions from Senior Management and the Owners at times.

Position Responsibilities

  • Prepare dining room for guests by cleaning and setting tables.
  • Support wait staff by setting-up and replenishing condiments, trash container liners, and bus stations.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of glassware, silverware, and dishware.
  • Being familiar with the food offering and able to communicate top lines for each item.
  • Assist servers with food delivery as needed, using drop lines to entice guests.
  • Prepare coffee, tea, and ice water for customers.
  • Ensure table maintenance standards are met by removing courses; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to guest spills or other special needs.
  • Clean, sanitize, and reset tables after meals.
  • Keep floors and chairs near dining tables clean by routinely sweeping and mopping.
  • Close the dining facility by cleaning chairs and tables; removing trash and recyclables from the facility.
  • Proficient understanding of how to greet guests upon arrival, and how to seat if necessary. Understanding of the floorplan, table and seat numbers.
  • Protect establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation and safety policies.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities.
  • Be proactive and find new ways to improve systems and efficiency.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Education:Valid BC Foodsafe Certification & BC Serving it Right Certification.
  • Experience:prior experience in a food-serving establishment.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, days, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to work varied hours.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with guests and employees.
  • Customer service focus and quality orientated.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • High energy level.

Physical Requirements

The Server Assistant involves being on your feet for extended periods, including walking, standing, and moving throughout the restaurant and dining areas. Team members must be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that may include exposure to varying temperatures and crowded spaces. Physical capabilities should include the ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. independently, bend, reach, and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills.

Work Schedule

This full/part-time position generally works eight-hour days. The specific work hours during the workday may be determined through mutual agreement, allowing for flexibility as needed.
