OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW
We are looking for a full-time Staff Meal Cook to join our team at The Vancouver Club! Your mission is to prepare and cook food for our staff members in accordance with established recipes and standards. This role ensures high-quality food production, proper food safety practices, and effective collaboration with other kitchen staff to deliver a seamless staff meal program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and cook simple, healthy, and cost-effective staff meals following standardized recipes including soups, salads, and entrées. Staff meals served twice a day at 11am & 4pm on weekdays.
Collaborate with Chef de Cuisine on menu planning to ensure variety, effective use of leftover ingredients, and adherence to budgetary limits.
Ensure all ingredients are properly labeled, stocked on shelves, and organized for easy access.
Undertake basic cooking duties such as knife skills, blanching, and portioning food.
Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency and compliance with standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and storage areas.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock and minimizing waste.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, reporting maintenance issues as they arise.
Maintain clear communication with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned to assist in banquet events.
Performs all other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3 years experience in the kitchen
Must take pride in feeding co-workers a menu that changes weekly at the chef's discretion.
Strong understanding of food preparation techniques and culinary best practices.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen sanitation standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and work as part of a team.
Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in high-temperature environments.
Must have FoodSafe Level 1
Culinary education or certifications are preferred but not required.
