Our growing Total Compensation Team is responsible for processing and maintaining full cycle, bi-weekly Canadian and US payroll for 7,000+ employees across all brands and multiple provinces and US states (BC, AB, MB, ON, CA, WA, FL, TX). All troubleshooting related to Payroll is directly handled by the department to ensure our brand is executed with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism while also ensuring timely and accurate payments.

The US Payroll Supervisor is responsible for managing the company’s US payroll process, supervising and training the US payroll team and implementing procedures to streamline processes and provide an efficient and accurate payroll service. As the US Payroll Supervisor, you will work closely with all departments to ensure all payroll related changes are completed in a timely manner and to ensure that company policies and procedures are properly followed.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and direction to the team of US Payroll Administrators.
  • Manage the company’s full-cycle in-house payroll process for approximately 2,500 full-time and part-time employees in the US.
  • Establishing payroll systems and practices for new store locations including opening new accounts with federal and state agencies.
  • Staying up to date on changes in payroll legislation for all states in which JOEY has restaurants, and ensuring legal compliance.
  • Processing and managing quarter-end and year-end tasks including W2’s and agency tax notices.
  • Identifying, developing, and implementing new and innovative practices to streamline processes and provide improved client services.
  • Provides clear guidance to management stakeholders relating to payroll matters
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Payroll Manager


Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in payroll administration of which 3 years has been in a leadership capacity with accountability for year-end processes.
  • Experience processing multi-state US payroll. California payroll experience an asset.
  • Have a customer-centric approach to create a high level, positive experience for your customers.
  • Substantial level of organizational skills including meeting deadlines combined with strong attention to detail.
  • High level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to think on your feet and able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Completion or currently enrolled with the American Payroll Association APA.
  • Extensive knowledge of labour standards in multiple states.
  • Experience with multi HRIS systems and ADP Workforce Now.
  • Experience with HRIS systems implementation an asset.
  • This is an in-office role based in Vancouver, BC with opportunity to work hybrid.

Salary Range:

$90,000-105,000 / year
