7 additional areas will reach Stage 3 of public reopening plan this week. Toronto, Peel and Windsor-Essex will remain in Stage 2 for now.

UPDATED July 20: Seven additional public health units receive permission to proceed into Stage 3 on Friday, July 24th including:
- Durham
- Halton
- Hamilton
- Niagara
- Haldimand-Norfolk
- Sarnia-Lambton
- York Region

Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced Monday that parts of Ontario will enter Stage 3 of its reopening plan on July 17. The Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario will have to wait a little longer, however.
This means that for much of the province, restaurants may finally open indoor dining, movie theatres, gyms and sport facilities may operate, and playgrounds may open. Indoor gatherings are restricted to 50 people maximum and outdoor gatherings are limited to 100 people.
Before they are permitted to operate, however, all businesses will have to put in place significant health and safety measures including physical distancing, Plexiglass barriers between patrons, and enhanced cleaning protocols.
The following regions will remain in Stage 2 for the time-being:
- Durham Region Health Department.
- Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit.
- Halton Region Public Health.
- Hamilton Public Health Services.
- Lambton Public Health.
- Niagara Region Public Health.
- Peel Public Health.
- Toronto Public Health.
- Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.
- York Region Public Health.
