Purpose of Position:
The Human Resources Coordinator helps foster and support Gateway's most valuable asset, our people. The HR Coordinator requires extraordinary interpersonal skills and a passion for managing positive working relationships and meeting operational objectives. This fantastic opportunity provides human resources guidance and support to casino management and staff to enable the achievement of individual, team and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facilitates the recruitment process by creating postings, interviewing, reference checking, hiring, and delivering orientation
2. In coordination with management, prepares interview questions and screening tools. Provides administration and gatekeeping for recruitment and hiring activities and results. This includes data entry, processing hiring documentation and assisting employees with their enrollment in the benefits and pension programs
3. Supports and coaches management to ensure familiarity and application of human resources practices, programs, policies and regulations
4. Takes a leadership role in health and safety, supporting the JHSC, overseeing modified work programs and claims management activities
5. Oversees updating and maintaining iAGCO processes and licenses for all employees
6. Health benefits enrollment, tracking and maintaining
7. Supporting recruitment and selection, employee relations, contract administration, disability management and organizational change.
8. Provides exceptional value added service in support of a diverse client group in understanding and assessing departmental needs to support optimal operation
9. Uses a detail-oriented and resourceful approach to investigations and problem-solving
10. Retains a thorough and updated knowledge of company programs, policies, procedures and gaming regulations. Liaises with government regulators to ensure compliance
11. Takes lead responsibility in employee redundancy and layoff situations. Works directly with managers, employees and union group executives in accordance with applicable procedure and/or collective agreement provisions. Ensures accurate and timely redeployment, displacement and/or layoff
12. Facilitates and owns the Accommodation and Leave of Absence process and procedure
13. Retains a thorough and updated knowledge of human resources practices, legislation and policies to respond to employee and management inquiries
14. Performing administrative duties
15. Participate and lead on special projects and committees relating to broader Human Resources matters
16. Supports the design, implementation and ongoing delivery of Human Resource programs and initiatives
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
- Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Proven high level of Customer Service
Experience, Training, Certification and Education (demonstrating requirements):

Post-secondary education in Human Resources requiring a pre-graduate placement and/or co-op and/or human resources management or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Work experience in a customer-service focused business preferred
- CHRP designation an asset
- Experience with cost claims management and injury prevention programs
- General knowledge of Human Resources theories, practices, legislation and resources
- Knowledge and experience using HRIS software an asset
- The ability to obtain registration as a Category 2 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario
- Smart Serve Ontario Certification
