Job Description

One Floral Group is a wholesale flower producer that provides tailored floral solutions to retail customers throughout North America and is one of the fastest growing producers of floral products. Our business has over five million square feet of growing and production space in more than six facilities in three different climate zones. We have the ability to grow and build a variety of products, including potted plants and planters, outdoor lawn and garden plants, and vegetable propagation in the best conditions.


The company is seeking to hire a Facilities Manager for our Leamington, Ontario facilities. Under direction of the CEO, oversee the operations within facilities. This includes the leadership and growth of staff, as well as driving One Floral vision to ensure that all areas have the support they require to remain competitive and profitable. The Facilities Manager motivates staff and proactively initiates change and improvement, through research and the analysis of departmental requirements. This position is very dynamic, implement process and prioritize activities constantly. It is expected that this position leads by example and be a hands-on.


Core competencies required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Agriculture or similar
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Greenhouse Operations, vegetable business preferable
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage timelines to ensure delivery of objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and direct personnel, supervisors and administrative staff
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas and actions to those at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to adapt positively to a fast paced, challenging and constantly changing work environment
  • Demonstrated skills in relationship building and influencing to achieve results
  • Strong team player with self-discipline and motivation to work independently
  • Strong organizational, planning and strategic execution skills
  • Advanced MS Office and ERP Systems skills, experience with MS Navision would be an asset
  • Experience in vegetable propagation or Hydrangea growing a plus
  • Production and Growing experience is a must


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direction, Leadership and Communication

  • Manage and coordinate organizational and departmental operation strategies and activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of organizational policies, procedures and attainment of operational goals.
  • Review, analyze and prepare reports, records and directives.
  • Confer with Managers/Supervisors to obtain data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress and problems encountered.
  • Assign and delegate responsibility for specified work and functional activities
  • Organize resources to ensure effective production and delivery of products.
  • Give work direction, resolve problems, prepare schedules, and set deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Evaluate current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives to develop and implement improved procedures and practices.
  • Coordinate activities of departments with related activities of other departments to ensure efficiency and economy.
  • Monitor and analyze costs.
  • Prepare reports and records on department activities for management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for all departmental staff, as well as discipline, when necessary.
  • Provide employee coaching, development and training.
  • Develop and maintain peer relationships.
  • Effectively build, foster and guide teamwork within all department.
  • Promote/recommend continuous improvement suggestions including environment, people, processes and equipment/machinery.
  • Conduct performance appraisals informally or formally as required to encourage a motivated workforce.
  • Conduct departmental/employee meetings.
  • Approve vacations where necessary to ensure departments possess the needed supervision/management.
  • Ensure that all departmental questions, suggestions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Encourage and support open communication with all departments/employees.
  • May initiate or authorize employee hire, promotion, discharge, or transfer.
  • Perform other duties as required.
