Job Description

Who we are

Children are at the front and centre of what we do; they are the foundation of our purpose and the basis for our evidence-driven strategy. Our mission is to transform the lives of children, youth and their families by developing and delivering innovative, research-based mental health and early learning programs. At the Child Development Institute (CDI), we are passionate about helping our communities' most vulnerable members and their caregivers. It motivates each of us to face what can be difficult situations while continuously finding the purest joy in play, in silence, in advice, and in the unbelievable strength and resilience of our young clients. Joining us now is a rewarding opportunity to be part of an organization that is built on a legacy of more than 100 years of helping children and families.

Recognized as a leader and model for measurement-based impact, we are client-centred, family-centred, and data-informed. We are a place where professionals grounded in mental health, care, and well-being of infants, children and youth, come together in collaboration, learning and inclusion. As a multiservice organization delivering social, emotional, and behavioural counselling services, early childhood education, learning disabilities and mental health services, and family violence services, we address the whole person from when they begin their life. Every child and family that reaches out to us is unique, and we value and embrace their individuality. We deliver the tailored support and tools they need to build life-long skills, positive mental health, and resilience. With their trust in us, we guide children and families along a supportive journey. It is an often difficult path and simultaneously the most rewarding experience for providers, children and families.

Who we need

SNAP®, which stands for Stop Now And Plan, is an evidence-based cognitive behavioural model that provides a framework for teaching children struggling with behaviour issues, and their parents, effective emotional regulation, self-control and problem-solving skills. The primary goal of SNAP is to help children to stop and think before they act, and keep them in school and out of trouble.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Implementation and Affiliate Relations, we are looking for a Bilingual Manager, Program Implementation and Training. You will take ownership of the successful implementation of our SNAP program at new affiliates (i.e., school boards, mental health organizations, government-run or funded youth justice service providers, etc.), working in close partnership with our training team to create a pathway to success. You will oversee the day-to-day operational activities of a team of trainers and consultants, providing coaching, mentoring, and team leadership to ensure the team adheres to best practices related to the relevant model. Your role will include overseeing operations, analyzing data, and communicating with stakeholders at all levels, all with the goal of successful program implementation.

Who you are

You are a Bilingual Program or Project Manager with implementation and team leadership experience, or you may be experienced in the SNAP program. You have a background, or interest in, mental health or social services, and you are looking for an opportunity to make a deep impact by blending your operations, people, and project management experience to expand access to our highly successful and in-demand SNAP program.

As our new Bilingual Manager, Program Implementation and Training, you will:

  • Develop and manage a project plan. You will oversee all phases of program implementation, from pre-implementation to training, consultation, and maintenance. You will proactively monitor the implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and identify and resolve issues as needed.
  • Create strong partnerships. You will work with the senior manager of I&AR to develop and maintain effective relationships with key Affiliate sites, partner organizations, funders/donors, the Government, and other community stakeholders You will oversee the licensing process with Affiliate sites, including new licenses and license reviews.
  • Provide support. You will assist trainers and consultants in resolving site-specific implementation challenges and offer guidance on adaptation requests according to agency protocol. You will coordinate workflow and monitor the team's performance in implementation activities, training and consultation activities and affiliate relationships, ensuring high-quality output.
  • Coach and lead a team. You will lead recruitment and training efforts for direct reports, providing ongoing guidance and mentorship to trainers and consultants. You will oversee annual performance reviews and ensure adherence to personnel practices and the Collective Agreement.
  • Manage operations. You will maintain SNAPiT data flow and contribute to reports for funding and government agencies. You will monitor and approve department expenses and coordinate affiliate site invoicing with the finance team.

You have:

  • The program management. You are highly organized and supportive of new ideas and initiatives, with outstanding professionalism. You have experience nurturing relationships with program sponsors and stakeholders, influencing without authority, and managing expectations. You can work in a highly distractible environment with sensitivity to the uniqueness and demands of a public service agency, handling interruptions that require constant refocusing. You have practical knowledge of project management processes and software. You can effectively prioritize work in an environment of competing demands while achieving established benchmarks and key performance indicators (KPIs). You have experience with research report writing, data synthesis, and program evaluation.
  • The team leadership. You can recruit, mentor, motivate, and coordinate the work of direct reports, as well as oversee the annual review process and ongoing performance management. You excel at coaching or training, providing constructive and positive feedback, supervising large and small groups, and evaluating individual and team performance. You actively pursue a diverse team that represents the communities we serve and exemplifies inclusivity, equality, and accessibility.
  • The communication skills. You are fluent in English and French. You have exceptional listening skills and mental attentiveness, can focus on the needs of individuals or groups to probe, analyze, synthesize, and create true connections and engagement, and can adapt your written and verbal communication style to ensure transparency, authenticity, and understanding. You embrace the opportunity to work with groups from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • The integrity. You are a dedicated and supportive team player. You have high standards of accountability and prioritize professionalism and respect. You are open to feedback and coaching; and committed to providing the same to students and peers as requested. You are calm in the face of conflict or difficulty, and can manage complex issues related to programs and relationships, both in the moment and by weighing all options for the best outcome.

Other requirements:

  • All applicants are advised that offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Credential verifications and references are required.
