Construction Manager - Civil Infrastructure
Heavy Civil Contractor in BC looking for a leader in their Field Construction team!
With a growing team in the field, this general contractor, who has been in business for over 5 decades, is looking for a strong leader for their site superintendents and field staff. You will have strong technical understanding of civil infrastructure as well as having proven experience as a problem solver and a strong manager of people.
Reporting directly to the Regional Leader, the Construction Manager is responsible for the allocation of resources, and providing support for Superintendents to allow them to successfully execute their projects. The Construction Manager will oversee the overall safety, cleanliness, and progress of all construction projects while supporting site staff to ensure that projects are being delivered as per the schedule and with a high level of quality. The Construction Manager will be accountable for ensuring that superintendents have everything that they need to build their projects including equipment, labour, and supplies.
Compensation: $160k to $220k base salary, bonus, company truck, benefits
Location: Greater Vancouver Area, BC
Core Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor and develop superintendents who can deliver projects as per contract specifications, drawings and client requirements in a safe and timely manner
- Be accountable for all safety adherence for all job sites
- Create and maintain regular project process reporting and projections as it relates to project schedules and milestones
- Work closely with Operations leaders in providing constructability insight into project pursuits and expected methods of delivery.
- Analyze specifications and construction drawings and complete/participate in completing construction plan and construction schedule prior to mobilization to project site;
- Research solutions with Project Directors and Project Managers to overcome design challenges, conflicts, interferences or proposed changes.
- Plan and implement schedules with Superintendents and Project Managers to determine crew/manpower levels and ensure proper equipment and subcontractors are available as required for the project;
- Conduct regular site visits and be made aware of any challenges with sub-contractors, safety, or quality issues and provide problem solving support to the site superintendent and project managers as required
- The main objective of the General Superintendent is to ensure that all projects have the proper site leadership and supporting the site leaders to deliver quality, safe and profitable work in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- Engineering Degree (Civil Engineering preferred), or Construction Management Degree and heavy civil experience
- 15+ years of civil construction experience
- Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and use of MS Office, Email, and scheduling software
- Attentive listener and critical thinker
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to lead and drive results through the development of others.
- Proven negotiation and conflict management skills
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
- Ability to meet and adhere to deadlines and work under strict time constraints
- Be self-motivated and driven
- Valid Driver’s License
