Reporting to the Senior Manager, Reporting, the Manager, Corporate Reporting is part of the reporting team that consolidates and analyzes the results of Extendicare's lines of business and prepares reports for internal and external purposes and will be responsible for providing accurate and timely accounting and reporting, while ensuring that the company’s policies are being followed.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, self-motivated and possess a high attention to detail while still being able to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. This position requires a team player who will be able to support their team towards the overall successful achievement of team goals.
This position will be located at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario and will have flexibility for hybrid work model.
Accountabilities
- Manage the preparation of interim and annual financial statements and note disclosures.
- Oversee the preparation of quarterly presentation materials to senior management and board of directors.
- Provide technical expertise in the form of detailed analysis on the impact of new IFRS standards and complex transactions on the company's financial statements and other filings.
- Manage internal and external auditor requests where required and as directed.
- Prepare variance analysis to prior year and prepare period end reports.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and provide commentary on balance sheet variances.
- Lead improvement initiatives in accounting and financial reporting.
- Collaborate, build, and maintain relationships with business partners, including those outside the immediate finance team.
- Develop, coach, and manage a team to achieve organizational objectives and ensure a commitment to quality.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting and CPA
- 5 years+ experience in financial reporting and/or accounting related role.
- 1-2 years of previous leadership experience
- Audit experience at a top public accounting firm with Canadian public company experience.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, computer and analytical skills; advanced working knowledge of Excel
- Accounting experience with large-scale enterprise reporting systems, knowledge of Workday preferred
