Job Overview:

The Logistics Transportation Manager oversees the transportation and delivery of goods and materials within a Danby. This role involves planning, coordinating, and managing logistics operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery. The manager will work closely with other departments, suppliers, and customers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

Transportation Management:

• Plan and supervise the daily operations of transportation and logistics.
• Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize delivery times and reduce costs.
• Negotiate and recommend vendors for all modes of transportation and customs clearances in North America (rail/ocean/ground transport) through an annual RFP process.
• Manage relationships with carriers, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including monitoring and analyzing transportation costs and performance metrics.

Logistics Coordination:

• Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and retailers to ensure smooth logistics operations.
• Oversee the scheduling and routing of deliveries to ensure timely arrival.
• Ensure proper documentation and tracking of all shipments.
• Handle any issues or discrepancies related to shipments and deliveries.
• Collaborate with warehouse and inventory management teams to synchronize inbound and outbound logistics operations.
• Develop contingency plans to manage disruptions in the supply chain.
• Optimize logistics processes through continuous analysis and improvement of transportation routes and delivery schedules.

Team Leadership:

• Lead, train, and mentor a team of logistics and transportation staff.
• Assign tasks and responsibilities and monitor performance.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure compliance with all transportation laws and regulations.
• Implement safety protocols and procedures for transportation activities.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance and safety standards are met.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in logistics and transportation.
• Implement new technologies and systems to improve logistics operations.

Customer Service:

• Address customer inquiries and complaints regarding transportation issues.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving.
• Coordinate with customer service and sales teams to align logistics with customer needs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics and transportation management.
• Proven experience in managing transportation operations and teams.
• Strong understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP) is a plus.
• Experience with NetSuite is an asset.

Working Conditions:

• This position may require working outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet operational needs.
• Travel may be required to visit suppliers, customers, or other company locations.
