Job Description

What does an Account Manager do?


An Account Manager will be responsible for maintaining regular communication with school boards, helping to maximize their success with our products and services as well as prescribing new solutions in a consultative way. They will be a trusted advisor to the school board, helping them navigate features, best practices, as well as making recommendations for adoption of new services based on an expert understanding of their needs and goals.


Some of the things this job will entail include performing regular school board interviews, evaluating their use of our products and services, making intelligent, thoughtful recommendations that ensure their success, helping to make connections between similar school boards and promoting community growth and engagement, working with our design and development team to overcome any challenges, and helping promote and market features and products. This role will work closely with our Community Integration Specialist, taking over management of the school boards after they have been successfully onboarded.


Responsibilities


  • Building up strong, genuine, personal relationships with the people we serve
  • Forging new relationships and partnerships with educators, support staff, and third party companies in the education technology space
  • Regularly reviewing individual school boards use of our products and services, identifying any problems or risks, and working with the rest of our team to overcome challenges
  • Making new, thoughtful product and service recommendations to school boards that promote revenue and community growth based on each school boards current struggles and challenges
  • Ensuring the complete and absolute satisfaction of our school boards by being their greatest champion and advocate
  • Understanding of the sales cycle, working with school boards to establish budget, need, timing, and identifying those who are responsible for making a buying decision
  • Assisting school boards with change management when adopting new technologies
  • Ensuring timely delivery of all products and services
  • Negotiating contracts and agreements in the mutual best interest of both school boards and our organization
  • Providing regular updates about new, modified, or upcoming changes to features or services by working with our Product Owner
  • Assisting with marketing efforts as they relate to communicating with school boards on an individual or group targeted basis (e.g. announcing new school boards that join one of our product communities to fellow school boards who may be interested)
  • Forecasting revenue growth from inside sales and reaching growth targets


Skills


  • Exceptional written and oral skills with professional level proficiency in English
  • A proficient presenter and speaker, comfortable leading focus groups, webinars, and panel style discussions with key stakeholders
  • Analytical skills and the ability to create and review school board usage data
  • Ability to put people and plans into action to overcome any school board challenges
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills
  • Strong negotiation and arbitration skills when collaborating on contracts and agreements
  • Creative thinker who is able to observe the other functions of the business and exploit opportunities that benefit and build confidence with school boards
  • Knowledge of the most common and most recent industry best practices


Qualifications


  • At least three years of experience in the education industry (e.g. teacher, principal, support staff member), previous experience managing enterprise accounts as a manager, or previous experience with consultative selling
  • Familiarity and comfort with deal prospecting, reaching out using cold and warm techniques, qualifying new opportunities, nurturing relationships with our incredible community, providing reliable information that helps overcome objections, and closing and contracting
  • Knowing that we are a software development company with oodles of programmers, any knowledge of Jedi, Sith, magical rings that bind power to people, or general knowledge of sci-fi or fantasy, would be useful for fitting in socially (knowledge of motorcycles would be a bonus)
