Client Profile
Our client, a reputable Toronto firm is currently looking for a Senior IP Litigation Assistant. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Managing routine inquiries and administrative responsibilities, including but not limited to, email and calendar management, preparing expense reports, and processing of accounts;
- General administrative duties, including travel arrangements and booking meeting rooms;
- Preparing patent and/or trademark notices and/or submissions for filing with CIPO/USPTO/WIPO
- Maintain the IP Database and computerized records of intellectual property portfolio information;
- Preparing and processing all monthly billing;
- Monitoring and responding to deadlines and other time sensitive matters;
- Payment of designated government fees and other administrative duties;
- Provide back-up assistance to the other members of the IP Group; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years in a litigation role working in an IP environment, including experience liaising with the Federal Court and in depth knowledge of procedures;
- Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma from an Accredited Institution;
- Experience working with the Ontario Courts is an asset;
- Knowledge of patent and trademark prosecution;
- Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Outlook and Excel);
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities, work well under pressure and effectively meet deadlines;
- Immaculate proofreading and grammar skills;
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;
- Ability to handle confidential and non-routine information, with discretion and professionalism;
- Solid attention to detail and time management skills; and
- Ability to prioritize and meet urgent deadlines.
