Senior Manager, Accounting & Finance

Forager Real Estate Partners is expanding its team with the new role of Senior Manager, Accounting & Finance. The successful candidate will join the firm immediately to work alongside the executive team on a wide range of finance and accounting matters—both at the corporate level, and within our portfolio of ground-up development and income-producing properties in Canada and the United States.
This is a unique opportunity to join a young and fast-growing real estate firm with an emerging track record of well-executed fund vehicles and development projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in carrying out day-to-day accounting functions, reporting to company stakeholders and working with our service partners, all with an eye to streamlining internal processes, enhancing company performance and fostering continued company growth. The candidate will have direct responsibilities within our real estate portfolio, at all stages of the investment life cycle.

You Will Have the Following Key Responsibilities:
At the Corporate Level
- Oversee firm cash management;
- Prepare, update and reforecast corporate operating budget;
- Record, track and process corporate accounts payable;
- Prepare timely corporate financial snapshots and quickly retrieve financial information and insights as required by the executive team;
- Work with external accounting team(s) to prepare and finalize year-end financial statements;
- Support the executive team with the preparation of reports and other insights of a financial nature;
- Support external accountants in the preparation of compliance filings (e.g. sales tax and corporate income tax returns) in both Canada and the United States;
- Liaise with our debt and equity capital stakeholders in the timely delivery of financial reports and routine project updates;
- Oversee and execute daily banking activities including account balancing, wire and ACH payments, and intracompany loans; and
- Be closely involved in key corporate finance initiatives including structuring loans, development partnerships, co-general partnerships and joint ventures, including cross-border arrangements.
At the Project & Property-Level
- Track, prepare and execute monthly construction loan draws, working closely with our lending partners and project monitors;
- Record, track and process accounts payable across our portfolio;
- Support our external auditors in the preparation of review engagements for our fund vehicles;
- Assist in the raising of equity capital, and origination of construction and conventional financing;
- Support the Company’s asset management activities including oversight of and financial planning with third-party property management;
- Prepare and execute capital call and distributions; and
- Maintain project cash flow and investor waterfall forecasts.

- Prepare routine and ad-hoc project updates for our joint-venture and co-GP partners;
- Devise ways in which our stakeholder reporting and communications can be enhanced and streamlined; and
- Respond to partner questions and input in a thoughtful and timely manner.
You Bring These Prior Experiences and Qualifications:
- Exceptional attention to detail in all manners of work;
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret numbers in a variety of business contexts;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including visual presentation skills;
- CPA, CGA or CPA, CMA designation (or soon to have achieved this);
- High degree of proficiency in the following software platforms: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, QuickBooks, Yardi Investment Manager, and Argus Enterprise.
- Post secondary degree, ideally in accounting and/or business administration;
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of practical working experience, ideally in commercial real estate and/or commercial property development;
- Highly self-motivated and problem solving in nature;
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours when circumstances arise;
- Ability to work under pressure and against tight deadlines;
- Ability readily absorb constructive feedback, viewing it as a learning opportunity;
- Self-starter and team-oriented attitude with exceptional honesty, integrity and work ethic;
- Superior time management and prioritizing skills; and
- Ability to execute on both quick-turn daily assignments, and long-term strategic initiatives.
