I started at VP as a prep cook and was a kitchen lead by the end of the 2 years I've worked there. Overall, co-workers are great to work with, but the lack of transparency from management about wages was unfair. Sous chef was overworked and underpaid. Many great people had left because of the demand of workload and lack of compensation for it. At times, I felt like I was working three jobs at once and only getting paid for one. I would've enjoyed my experience more if I was recognized for the work I put in for the company as I truly cared about my job. Coworkers made the job more fun. A decent experience for a student looking for part-time work, but not great for someone wanting full-time hours, or wanting to be chef/general manager. You will be working overtime a lot and not be rewarded.

Good place to work. Coworkers are friendly and professional, and our regulars are awesome.

Good place to work. Coworkers are friendly and professional, and our regulars are awesome.

However, weekly tips tend to be on the lower end compared to previous jobs ($2-4/hr), and work expectations can be unrealistic and unhealthy, especially during the slow season. Frequent changes in management made lack of stability a real issue.

It's a wonderful place to work. Food is amazing and customers are always wow'd!

The only big negative is the tip out situation, it is shared equally with all employees depending on how many hours you worked that week. Although this is a progressive idea and great for line cooks, hosts, dishwashers, etc., it is hard to stay as a server when all your other server friends get to keep most of their tips and make way more money $$$ for the same amount of work. For this reason server turnover is very high.
